Advanced immune modulation therapeutics

This company was founded in mid-2005 by BioQuest using a technology that was licensed from a major Canadian university. In early 2007, the company merged with Salpep Biotechnology Inc., founded by leading scientists from the University of Alberta and the University of Calgary. BioQuest has sole responsibility of managing the drug development programs for AIM Therapeutics and has successfully raised over $5 million of private capital to fund the development of their technologies.

Medical technologies:

  • Neutropel: Three amino peptides derived from submandibular gland peptide-T (SGP-T); and
  • Ep1.B: Anti-inflammatory peptide derived from Apolipoprotein E
  • Indications: Asthma, spinal cord injury, peripheral arterial disease and diabetes

 Cascade Therapeutics Inc.

This company was founded by BioQuest in October 2007. Cascade has three breakthrough technologies, and has synthesized and characterized a broad series of compounds for each of their intellectual properties.  BioQuest has sole responsibility of managing the drug development programs and intellectual property estate for Cascade Therapeutics.  Currently, Cascade is focused on the development of advancing their lead candidates for the treatment of epilepsy and obesity through pre-clinical development to be Phase I ready by Q2 and Q4 2009 respectively.

Medical technologies:

  • Aryl-amid therapeutic series;
  • 5-HT2C agonist therapeutic series; and
  • 5-HT2A antagonist/GlyT1 inhibitor dual activity compound series
  • Indications: Epilepsy, obesity, anxiety, pain, schizophrenia and sleep disorders.

Envoy Pharmaceuticals Inc.

This company was founded in the Fall of 2007, and is focused on the development of medical technologies relating to antagonists and positive allosteric modulators (“PAM”) of the GLP-2 receptor for the treatment of gastrointestinal disorders and diabetes.  BioQuest has sole responsibility for the management of Envoy’s drug development program and intellectual property estate, and is currently focused on lead optimization in the GLP2 PAM series with the goal of nominating a lead candidate for pre-clinical development in the first half of 2008.
