Targeted Technologies

BioQuest is constantly evaluating new technologies to which we can apply our virtual model and collective experience. We are seeking licensing opportunities or partnerships with companies that are interested in utilizing our virtual development and value creation model. Although the initial focus has been on identifying opportunities at leading academic institutions, we also identify private sector opportunities with early-stage companies. Additionally, we encourage companies seeking to divest pre-clinical and early clinical assets to contact us.

We are currently seeking a variety of technologies, some of which are listed here.

Pre-clinical therapeutic agents (small molecules, peptides, proteins, or antibodies).
Some examples of technologies we pursue include:

  • Small molecules for which initial proof-of-concept has been obtained with in vitro or in vivo disease models, but which may require further refinement to optimize activity, drug-like properties, and/or strong composition of matter patent claims before commencing a full development program;

  • Peptides for which initial proof-of-concept has been obtained with in vitro or in vivo disease models, but which may require further refinement to optimize activity, drug-like properties, and/or strong composition of matter patent claims before commencing a full development program;
  • Peptides with clear proof-of-concept studies completed, but which require optimization of formulation and PK properties prior to commencing a full development program;

These are only a handful of examples - We evaluate each opportunity individually to determine if we can assemble a program that will lead to a therapeutic agent(s) that we can bring to an IND and create significant value in 18-30 months.

Pre-clinical medical devices
Some examples of medical devices that are of interest to us include:

  • Class I and II devices which require prototype refinement and manufacturing sourcing prior to a 510(k)-type submission;

  • Class III devices such as surgical implants at the early prototype stage which require full prototype development and animal-based studies to validate prior to initiating a Premarket Approval (PMA)-type program;

These are only a couple of examples – We evaluate each opportunity individually to determine if the technology is at a stage that we can define a program to move quickly to working prototype and either a 510(k) submission or a PMA development program.

Pre-clinical diagnostic agents

An example of a diagnostic agent that would be of interest to BioQuest is a small molecule medical imaging contrast agent such as paramagnetic metallic ions linked to a microparticles that requires animal proof of concept prior to initiating a full safety and toxicology program leading to an IND; We are principally interested in diagnostic agents such as the various types of contrast agents and diagnostic radiopharmaceuticals that are at an early stage of development, but for which there exists initial proof of concept and which we can move quickly to an optimized agent with animal proof of concept and then into a development program leading to an IND. We are open to evaluating and discussing other types of pre-clinical diagnostic agents on a case-by-case basis.

Selection Process

BioQuest is well positioned to identify promising new medical technologies, and submissions of new ideas are always welcome. However, we employ a rigorous screening and evaluation process, and select only the most promising opportunities to help streamline product development and accelerate commercialization.

BioQuest only selects innovative early-stage medical technologies that:

  • Have a clearly identifiable therapeutic or medical product;
  • Have well established biological validation data;
  • Target large or multiple indications / markets;
  • Have a development path that is or can be clearly identified; and
  • Require minimal infrastructure to build value.

If you have an early-stage medical technology that meets the above criteria and would like to discuss how BioQuest can assist you, please contact us.

Alternatively, if would like to discuss any of BioQuest’s existing out-licensing, acquisition or investment opportunities, please contact us.
